Ascertaining Language Differences

Through improvisation and role-playing, the workshop participants will attempt to find out whether there are
more similarities or more differences within the group. The participants will propose various everyday
situations that are considered «typical» for their respective countries. Everyday situations will be put into
scenes and acted out in various languages.
Finding a Common Language
- An attempt to mix up languages in order to act out a meta-language.
The workshop will be based on the play «Szenar für einen nicht existierenden, aber möglichen
Instrumentalschauspieler» («Scenario for a Non-Existant but Possible Instrumental Actor») by Bugoslaw Schaeffer.
Schaeffer, one of today’s most successful Polish composers and playwrites, has taken the philosophical thought
processes of an artist as the basis for this work.
Grzegorz Matysik lives in Krakow and works as a freelance actor, director and translator in Poland, Germany and Austria.
