Shaping the future and preparing young people for tomorrow’s world are common tasks for both Austria and all the member states of the European Union. Education is the best basis for our society’s orientation towards the future. This is why the quality of vocational and general education under the motto of «Quality is the objective» has been put at the centre of the Austrian Presidency in the educational field.

Building on the central issues of Austria’s first EU-Presidency in 1998 which had focused primarily on boosting creativity and cultural education a cross-border network of schools has been set up whose members have now got together for an international exchange of experience.

The changes in society and the business world require young people to be flexible, creative, and committed. I am happy that more than 500 adolescents from twelve different countries have accepted the invitation to come to Linz to discuss together with experts the future of education and culture. Their projects constitute an important contribution towards shaping the future.
